Meet the AVP Dancers!
Former NFL Cheerleaders Entertain at the Beach

In their distinctive yellow outfits, they are as bright as sunshine, as hot as summertime sand.

They move across the beach with the grace of figure skaters and the looks of fashion models. They are sexy, to be sure, but with style. And, as amy fan who has met them can attest, they are as sweet as Swiss chocolate.

They are the AVP Dancers, a new addition to professional beach volleyball that puts even more life in this lifestyle sport.

The AVP Dancers display their dancing skills to the enjoyment of thousands who come to the Croc's AVP tournaments like the Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach Bud Light Opens. Many of the 11-member team are former NFL cheerleaders – Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, San Diego Charger Girls, Denver Broncos Cheerleaders, Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders Carolina Panthers Cheerleaders – and even Laker Girls.

Formed by Whitney Frink, they perform during breaks of the men's and women's finals and are the equivalent of sideline cheerleaders when the finalists are introduced to start the matches. Those starts of matches are magical, with upbeat music, an energetic announcer and a lively and loud crowd. The AVP Dances certainly add a lot to the scene.

Frink got the idea of the team at the Beijing Olympics. She was working in television production and enjoyed watching the dancers at the beach volleyball events. Eventually she approached the AVP and the team made their debut at the biggest of all the tournaments, the Manhattan Beach Open.

The AVP Dancers are the first official dance team of the AVP.

Besides the beach, the AVP dancers can be seen elsewhere around Los Angeles – at Strike Out Lou Gehrig's Disease All-Star Baseball Tournament, which raises money for the A.L.S. association and, the week after the Hermosa Open, at the Lakers 3-on-3 basketball tournament, for instance.

They were also at the fun local beach volleyball tournament, Smackfest, in Hermosa Beach.

They are indeed beauties at the beach.

These additional performances are making them almost as prominent and popular as the Laker Girls. To help promote themselves, they created a 2010 calendar, which is sold here at Volleyball Superstore.

As the AVP schedule winds down in 2009, the AVP Dancers are planning to stay busy with eventual plans to be present at all tour events. People can follow their schedule by becoming a fan of AVP Dancers on Facebook
