LA's State Beach Turns Golden When the Sun Goes Down

Surfers end their session in El Porto as the sun says goodbye to the day.

By day, the beach sparkles, the sky is a bright blue and the sun shines. Manhattan Beach, CA, is home to beach volleyball, a sacred spot for surfers and a lively place for nightlife.

North Manhattan, or El Porto, shines as the sun goes down.

The transition from daytime to nighttime brings another pleasure to the residents of this LA-area community – sunsets.

They are always eye-catching and often spectacular, especially when the high desert Santa Ana winds blow the smog out of Los Angeles and over the Pacific Ocean, creating a Crayon box of colors – blue, yellow and orange.
