It has all the appropriate elements – about a thousand other crazies enjoying massive beers, brats and an "oompha band" in an authentic German beer hall. The wildest times occur during the repeated playing of the Chicken Dance, which sends the crowd running to the dance floor and hooking arms with friends and strangers in the aisles.

The event is one of several in Southern California that celebrates and imitates the huge annual event in Munich, Germany. Another popular one in the area is Alpine Village in Torrance. This one is more intimate, if several hundred people jammed together dancing and singing fun folk songs can be considered intimate.

Old World Oktoberfest has a patio with food and a beer station and a bar inside that can be a fun distraction. But the real attraction is the main hall with the band, picnic tables, dance floor and most of the masses of people. It is here that most of the action takes place, the singing, the Chicken Dance and all the things once associates with Oktoberfest.

The PubClubettes are often on hand and are always the toast of the beer tent. Wearing their Oktoberfest shirts with a German drinking cheer on the back, they were on stage with the band, which is from Germany. And the Herbmeister, who is the official party host as he wanders through the crowd on the dance floor with a microphone,

OLD WORLD OKTOBERFEST TIP: On weekend nights, arrive by 7. Any later, there's a big line and since the place is hardly the size of one beer tent in Munich, there's often a wait.

The PubClubettes were the lively and lovely Party Bus hostesses.

The Contiki Cuties were there, as well.

The Hermbmeiser loved the attention of the PubClubettes.
