NYE With Eric Stone & The Stoners

New Year's Eve in
the Bahamas with
lively ladies and Eric Stone.
We had a house by the dock
with a door that didn't lock.
A pair of golf carts, delivered to us with a case of beer,
a gallon of rum and a bag of ice.
A 22-foot power boat powered by a 200-hp outboard.
The setting was tropical and the water was see-through
turquoise. In one of his signature songs, Eric sings that "attitude
is is not a place but a state of mind." Here, in this place at
this time, it was both.

Eric and Steve, The Bartender and Spanish Cay's transportation: Boat
Drinks, anyone!?
It was New Year's Eve, 2005, and singer/songwriter Eric
Stone was once again asked to play a private party in the Bahamas. Spanish
Cay, to be exact, a 3-mile loing, 2-mile wide piece of land in the Sea
of Abaco. PubClub was there to accompany him in a place, that seemed
more like something out of one of his songs: "Somewhere South
of Somewhere."
Accompanying Eric were two of his travlin' band members
Shelly and Steve Hall. They made up the Eric Stone and the Stoners band
and filled the island with their tropical tunes that make people come
to places like this in the first place:

Shelly (left) plays
the congas with Eric (center) and Steve on guitar.
" I set my course for adventure, a course on island
time..."
Grab your mask and snorkel, jump off the starboard
rail..."
"Lliving off cigars, bananas and daiquiris..."
"I've got the ocean near St. Barths, the trade
winds and the stars, bumper to bumper Just woke up and went on deck,
and fell asleep in my hammoc..."
"I'm down here on Island Time, all stretched out
on the deck.."
"I guess you could say I needed a fix; I set up
my blender and set it to mix..."
"All I need is a little beer money..."

The crazy crew goes
crazy for Eric's island tunes.
The New Year's Eve guests soaked it up as much as their
cocktails. The crowd's leader was an influential Palm Beach real estate
executive who also invited friends, family and clients. Among the crowd
was Gary Atkinson, the famed shark diver who is frequently featured
on The Discovery Channel's Shark Week programs.
The only downer was missing the boat literally
to a wild and famous bar on another island, Nipper's
on nearby Great Guana Key, which everyone took on Sunday, it's best
day. And next year, we should time our journey to also include Junkanoo,
the Bahamas' Mardi Gras which occurs on Dec. 26 and New Year's Day
on Nassau, Grand Bahama, Eleuthera, Bimini and Abaco.

Our private plane took us to paradise.
