If you've only got one or two nights in town, here's where to spend them.

One Night Stand in Phoenix/Scottsdale
The places to go when you've only got one night in town

Fun and eager to party, the girls of Scottsdale like to rock.

So,you've only got one night (or so) to spend in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.

No sweat, though. Not even in the desert. PubClub.com has the best bars to hit to maximize your time in this happening hotspot. In fact, metro Phoenix is one of the most happening places in the entire southwest US.

Actually, it's a series of hotspots It is comprised of three different areas:
• Scottsdale
• Phoenix
• Tempe

Scottsdale

This is by far the most happening area in Phoenix. The beautiful and upscale crowds bounce around from bar to bar in the Old Town Area. The best place to start the night, regardless of the day, is Kona Grill in the Scottsdale Fashion Mall.

After Kona the choices get tougher. For dancing head to Axis-Radius or around the block to Six. Some other great bars in the same area are; The Drift (with the coolest wooden patio chairs in town), Suede, Mickeyıs Hangover, Devilıs Martini, Sugar Daddyıs and Dos Gringos whose slogan is ³A great place to day drink."

On Sunday night hit Cateye, which is co-owned by Jenna Jamison and is where all the freaks show up.

For a little something out of the ordinary, head to north Scottsdale to Greasewood Flats. This cozy outdoor old western bar has been around since the early 1900ıs and still has the same feel as it did in the old days. The Satisfied Frog out in Cave Creek has an incredible Bloody Mary bar and is worth the trip to hang out for a long brunch.

Barcelona's is probably the hottest brand new club. It's a restaurant but is very hit or miss. The best time to go is on the weekend for dinner and stay through happy hour say 11:ish. It has live music, (10pm a DJ takes over) great atmosphere, huge patio with misters, (a must) and the building is a great set up with 3 very large bars so you never wait long for a drink. The crowd is higher end, some say very LA wannabe.

'O' short for opium, is an upscale lounge with very little clothing being worn and very snotty but beautiful inside (people and decor).

For bars on specific nights of the week, Sundays afternoon at Dos Gringos patio goes off, Sunday night the place is Cateye. Wednesday nights at Six and Thursdays at Suede rock. The other nights are a bit more calm, but on the weekend all these places are packed.

An up-and-coming area is North Scottsdale. Jetz Americana, San Felipe Cantina just opened next to Flemings in DC Ranch, Eli's (an older crowd) are all good It's just that the drive is difficult. Jetz is the new attempt at recreating the old Stix/Jetz that was all the rage a few years ago.

While people dress stylish in Scottsdale, there is no formal dress code. That's because it's usually so warm. Once in a while a place will require slacks, but jeans work most of the time. The bar crowd varies by location – some places are the 21-30s while others are more upscale and cater to the 28-40+ patrons.

Most of the Scottsdale bars are within close cab proximity. Anything else, North Scottsdale, Central Phoenix or Tempe are pretty far away. Its a bitch too, because there are not that many cabs around.

Phoenix

Central Phoenix covers a large area and sports many more bars than restaurants. Around the Biltmore area try the Merc Bar or Rosie McCaffertyıs for Friday happy hour; Aunt Chiladas at Squaw Peak canıt be beat. If you find yourself downtown check out the Arizona Center or Alice Cooperıs AliceCooperstown.

Dan Majerli's is a happening sports bar between Arizona Center (a shopping center) and the America West Arena Phoenix Suns' NBA basketball arena. Bank One Ballpark – which has a pool in the outfield and a lot of bikini tops to distract the opposition as well as the host Arizona Diamondbacks – is bringing bars and baseball close together.

Tempe

Tempe is the usual college town with fairly young crowds that roam along Mill Ave. and University in downtown Tempe. A couple of worthwhile bars are The Library (where the waitresses dress like school girls and dance on the bar) & Have a Nice Day Café, because of the atmosphere and strong drinks.
