Jackson Hole Party Guide
After Serious Skiiing, it's Serious Bar Hopping

With steep terrain and powdery snow, Jackson Hole is for serious skiers.
It's rustic, a throwback to the Old West.
And, if done right, the Wild West.
In Jackson Hole, Wyoming, you don't have to wear your cowboy boots to go out, but you can sit in a saddle at a barstool. Here's your guide to the bars at this resort which is known as a haven for really good skiers and snowboarders.
Jackson Hole Bars
& Nightlife
When it's time to go Apres skiing, the
Mangy Moose is the place to be in Jackson Hole. Located at the
base of the hill, it's recognized as one of the top apres bars in the
United States. Open since 1967, it shows its character on its walls,
has a deck overlooking the mountain, holds 500 people, has live music
3-4 nights a week and is the quintessential Jackson Hole watering hole.
The restaurant (separate from the bar) serves delights such as buffalo
meatloaf. There's even a market and cafe. No self-respecting skier or
boarder comes to Jackson Hole without venturing from the hills into
the Mangy Moose.
Another option is Nick Wilson's Cowboy Cafe at the base of the
tram, which has $2 beer and live acoustic music. Moderately priced breakfasts
and lunches are on the menu. The Peak in the Four Seasons is
for the higher-end and older crowd with cash to spend on post-skiing
cocktails. For a little Austrian chalet feel in cowboy country, the
Alpenrose in the Alpenhof hotel has local microbrew and specializes
in fondue.

Saddle up to the Jackson Hole's most famous bar.
After the sun has set and the condo calls, those looking ot keep up
the momentum from the apres head in town to Jackson.
One top destination is the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, perfectly
located at the town square. A stuffed bear in a glass case greets
patrons but that's only the beginning. The real attraction is the barstools
which, in addition to being in close proximity to the bartender, are
genuine leather saddles. This is a real cowboy bar, a Wild West honkey
tonk. Live entertainment enhances the atmosphere which encourages western
dancing. There's no telling who may wind up on stage. Waylon Jennings,
Hank Williams, Jr., Asleep at the Wheel, Hoyt Axton, Glen Campbell,
Tanya Tucker, Willie Nelson have all gotten up from their saddles to
sing.

Another choice is the Snake River Brewery with its microbrews
bearing names like Custer's Last Ale and Snake River Pale Ale (made
at the on-sitre brewery). It has wireless Internet for those who forgot
to print out this guide to Jackson Hole and Teton Village.
Finally, the Cadillac Grill Lounge is "the spot" for Happy
Hour (2-for-1 beers and mixed drinks from 5-7 p.m.).
Other Activities
in Jackson Hole and Teton Village
There is a ski area in town, Snow Kng Ski Area, just six blocks
from the town square. One of the first ski spots in America, it's small
but steep and has night skiing. Lift tickets are $39.
Other activities include snowshoeing and ice skating.
Plus, snowmobiling through Yellowstone to the National Museum
of Wildlife Art located just three miles outside of town toward
the airport.
