PlubClubbing in Rio – The Nightlife!

Rio's bars, clubs and even streets make Rio one of the world's top party cities.

Party Trips to Rio; includes nightclub VIP

For those who want to party like a rock star, then look no farther than righ here.

Rio de Janeiro's nightlife is one of the best in the world. Although it isn't as sophisticated as Sao Paulo or Buenos Aires (other South American cities), the nightlife gets crazy because of the Cariocas (Rio de Janeiro locals).

Rio de Janeiro has everything a partygoer needs to have a great time: Beautiful people, a great mix of nightlife (bars, lounges, sophisticated clubs, large venues, special events, etc.). Whether you are looking for a relaxing bar to have a couple of "chopps" (draft beer) or want to get decked out and party with Rio's high society, Rio has the scene for you.

Compared to other US Party Cities (NYC, Miami, Las Vegas), Rio's nightlife is relatively cheap. Drinks range from $3.00 - $8.00 and you can get bottle service for about $125.00/bottle. Here is the rundown of some of the more popular places in Rio:

Clubs in Rio – The Famous Nightlife & Nightclubs

The clubs more frequented by the ³Cariocas² are Nuth, Baronetti, Club Six, Bombar Redux, Melt, and Hard Rock Café. These clubs are VERY difficult to get into. The nightlife starts between 11:00 pm and midnight and the best nights to go out in Rio are Wednesday - Sunday. There's no closing time so people stay out late – usually until about 5 in the morning.

There are some spots that are good on Monday and Tuesday, but those are the nights the clubs are less packed. The "Pub Tour" to Rio de Janeiro includes all of these hot spots. The nightlife in Rio does change and the clubs are very difficult to get into if you are not a local or know Portuguese, but you will be guaranteed to be at the hottest clubs by booking your vacation package right here.

Bars in Rio

There are great little bars all over Rio. The most popular are Shenanigans, The Irish Pub, Emporio and Devasa. In the Lapa Area, there are also tons of little bars, but the ones mentioned above are in the South Zone and a lot closer to Copacabana and Ipanema.

Chopadas

Chopadas are parties held by College students. A "Chopp" is a draft beer in Portuguese. Chopadas are held on the beach, streets or at special venues. They are fun and provide all you can drink beer for a very low price (around US$10-20).

Out on the town in Rio – it's hot by day, hot by night.

Special Events

Rio has tons of special events throughout the year. Electronic Music Festivals: Creamfields, Chemical Music Festival and the Rio E-Music Festival.

Concerts on the Beach

The local government sponsors free concerts on the beach from time to time. In the past year, DJ Tiesto, Lenny Kravitz, The Rolling Stones, and Black-Eyed Peas have performed for free on the beach.

Micaretas

Micaretas are huge concerts held in special venues throughout Rio. The music at Micaretas is mostly Axe and similar to Carnival in Salvador, Bahia. Popular groups that perform are Chiclete com Banana, Ivette Sangalo, Babado Novo, etc. Micaretas are usually held in Rio Centro, a huge special event venue.

f you are looking to chill at a beach close to your hotel, Copacabana is good, but the two other beaches, Ipanema and Barra do Pepe are better.

The best spots to chill in Ipanema are between Lifeguard Posts 9 and 10.Pepe Beach

Pepe beach is the hottest beach in Rio, full of beautiful scenery, both human and otherwise (see photo at right as evidence of the former).

On the weekends this beach is packed with people relaxing, playing soccer, volleyball, futvolley and other beach sports. The beach is located in Barra de Tijuca, very close to some of the hottest nighspots in town as described above.
