March Madness
2010 Party Guide
PubClub's Top Tournament Party Cities

PubClub is blowing the whistler on the Best Host Cities.
March Madness is not all about the games. A lot of it is about the bars and the party scene.
After all, the men's NCAA basketball tournament is less about who wins the championship than who wins the office pool. Well, at least for those without a school playing for the title.
Any fan whose team makes the Round of 16, then the Elight Eight and the Final Four tosses out his/her predictions for the better feeling of that good 'ol school spirit.
March Madness – which starts the day after St. Patrick's Day in 2010 – always fills up bars in every American city and town. For those going to the games, PubClub.com has put together a look at the most fun host cities, with links to their best bars.
So while the experts break down "bracketology," PubClub.com breaks down "bartology."
March Madness, indeed.
The Hot Host Cities
• Jacksonville, FL. Most of the action is at the beach , but there are a few places downtown within walking distance of Veteran's Memorial Arena, including the Jacksonville Landing.
The photo at right is from Pete's Bar, a real dive in Atlantic Beach.
• Milwaukee. There are a number of very, very casual bars downtown. Plus a place called the Safe House, an old speakeasy. The password to get inside is this: "Is this the Safehouse?"

Yeah, daily Happy Hour on Bourbon Street!
• New Orleans. 3-for-1 on Bourbon Street, every day of the year, 4-7 p.m.
• Providence, R.I. There's an entire downtown area in a redeveloped area that's full of bars and restaurants. And when the bars close, vendors sell pizza! Sure beats hot dogs like in some other cities.

A group of locals gathered at Santana Row, SJ's newest party place.
• San Jose. Santana Row downtown, very close to the HP Pavillion, is a new hotspot. Downtown San Jose has some pretty good spots, as well. San Jose Nightlife.
• Salt Lake City. There is a much better party scene 30 minutes away in Park City. Plus Park City has skiing and snowboarding!
• St. Louis. Harry's Bar by the old train station has good food, a great vibe and is the best place in town on Thursdays. Yet PubClub's favorite place is Venice Cafe in the blues section of town known as Soulard. In old brick buildings, down by the river and past the arch, there are casual places with live bands. For that late night food rush there's a White Castle just outside of downtown. The city also has casinos on riverboats.
– Fun in The Final Four City –

The Final Four host city has many nightlife attractions.
Indianapolis (April 3 & 5). This is a great city to host the Final Four. Fist of all, it's in basketball-crazed Indiana. Second of all, it's downtown. Lucas Oil Stadium is just a couple of blocks from many lively bars and restaurants.
PubClub visited 18 – yes, 18 – in one night in order to produce this Indy nightlife guide. Then we got up the next day and took a nice walk around the area and made these discoveries. And that night, we followed the many young and single locals to a section of the city known as Broadripple.
