The PubClubettes of PubClub.com hang 10 – and hang loose – in Hawaii.

Aloha!

This all-encompassing word is perfect for America's 50th state, where the warmth of the climate is matched only by the warmth of its people. Hawaii automatically brings to mind visions of Polynesian girls swaying grass skirt-covered hips, guys in flowered shirts strumming ukuleles and sipping colored drinks with umbrellas in front of a wide, sandy beach.

Often romanticized as a honeymoon haven a bit too slow for singles or the socially inclined, Hawaii in fact has as much for love hunters as it does for lovers.

One just has to know where to find the action.

PubClub provides a complete virtual guide to Hawaii. We give you tips on customs, cuisine, what each island has to offer and, of course, the inside story on the best places to get a tropical drink and dance the nights away.

Luau Larry's Hawaiian Suntanning Tips

The following Hawaiian suntanning tips are provided by PubClubber Luau Larry, who ran a suntan booth on Waikiki Beach for several years.

• Hawaii is just 23 degrees north of the equator. Therefore, it's much easier to burn here than at home; be careful.
• Places where the skin is closest to the bone burn most easily. That is, the forehead, nose, shoulders, hands and feet. Use the highest protection factor on these areas.
• Check the ingredients before buying lotion. Try and use products whose first ingredient is lotion, not water.
• Avoid mineral and baby oils. They are not absorbed into the skin and will cause blisters. Instead, use vegetable, sesame or mink oils.
•  The only way to avoid a sunburn is to get a suntan. Tanning is not a race, it's a marathon. Don't try and do it all in one day.
