Welcome to the Rose Bowl 2007 Party Guide & Photos

The Rose Bowl often explodes with excitement.

USC is still #1 in one category: Best Cheerleaders!

Anticipating victory, Trojan get fired up early.

The 2007 Rose Bowl

It's back to tradition for the Rose Bowl, Big 10 vs. Pac 10, as two traditional rivals meet again in Pasadena.

Any thoughts about USC or Michigan being disappointed in being here rather than the BCS national championship will be eliminated upon arrival at the stadium. Fans on both sides will be eagerly tailgating – some still fired up from the morning's Rose Bowl Parade (8 a.m.)

Universal Studios is hosting a Wolverine Day at the park on Dec. 30 offering Michigan fans $15 off the admission price (now $44) and other specials, including New Year's Eve. Details available at the Universal Web Site or 1-800- UNIVERSAL.

The most loyal USC fans will be camping out at the stadium in their motorhomes.

Rose Bowl Party & Travel Tips:

• Arrive Early. Kickoff is 2 p.m., PDT. But this is a hometown game for USC, so while Trojan fans hate going to the Rose Bowl (except this time of the year, after all it's UCLA's home field) they will begin arriving well before Josh David Booty or Mike Hart start their pregame warmups. In fact, as mentioned earlier, motorhomes will be staying overnight in the parking lot and waking up to mimosas and bloody marys.

On game day, there's only a couple of ways in and out of the stadium, so expect to spend close to an hour once actually arriving in Pasadena. The Rose Bowl is in a residential area away from the town and while the backdrop is spectacular, the entry and exit it not. Plan on being around the stadium by 10.

Parking is very limited (the best place is the adjacent golf course; all lots $25) so the top option is to park in a designated lot in the city of Pasadena and catch a shuttle to the stadium. Signs clearly mark pickup and dropoff areas and police will be directing people to the appropriate places.

The Tailgate Party. The place to tailgate is at "the backstop." It's on a baseball field which opens up to a huge grass area. It is next to the famous "Rose Bowl" logo on the stadium and is adjacent to public restrooms. There is a large grass field to set up chairs and tables for picnics and partying.

Open flames or individual tents are not permitted. Corporate tents, on the other hand, are sure to be prominent.

There's no stopping this party group at the backstop.

• Bring Your Food & Drink For the Day. The best thing to do is bring a Styrofoam cooler, which will eventually collapse and become disposable. Fill it with your favorite beverages and food. Even for those who are just going to party, bring a sandwich and/or snack.

Because the Rose Bowl location is isolated, there is no town, restaurant or bar to walk to, so keep this in mind when packing provisions. The golf course does have a clubhouse but it's small and hardly adequate for the crowds that swarm the stadium. Vending trucks are on-site.

• Tickets, Anyone? Don't have a ticket? Don't sweat it. Oh, you may not get into the game but because USC is playing, there will be several curious onlookers who just want to party. And who knows, you might get lucky from someone who has an extra. Advance planners should check on-line at places such as GoTickets.com.

Watching the game without a ticket and a nearby bar to duck into at kickoff could present a challenge. Our best advice is to follow the PubClub plan: Scope out the situation and think on your feet.

For more fun and a game prediction, check out our Top Party Schools! The Wolverines are sure to love it.

• The Rose Bowl Stadium. A historic venue, the Rose Bowl is one of America's great sports locations. There are 77 numbered rows and most seats offer good views of the action. It is one level and some seats and aisles are very, very narrow. Beer is sold in the Rose Bowl (not for UCLA games, but for the Rose Bowl).

USC fans celebrate a victory from their last Rose Bowl win in '03.

Officially from the Rose Bowl, here is what is NOT allowed into the stadium: Backpacks, handbags, etc. larger than 14"x 14" banners, cans, glass bottles, thermoses, coolers, alcoholic beverages, large still cameras, video cameras, noisemakers of any kind, umbrellas, beach balls, soccer balls, footballs, Frisbees, narcotics, firearms, explosives or other weapons.

Smoking is only permitted on the pedestrian concourse in designated smoking areas.

• Is There a Party in Pasadena? PubClub has an extensive guide to Los Angeles with articles on Hollywood, Beverly Hills, the beach cities, Orange County, Venice and the Sunset Strip. But not Pasadena. While Old Town has restaurants and some bars and in the days leading to the game, Longhorn fans will be filling the streets, in LA, there are other places to cut loose. PubClub recommends Santa Monica or the South Bay Beach Cities (for those who REALLY want to party).

From Hollywood to Hermosa, there are places to party in L.A.

The 2006 Rose Bowl BCS National Championship

In '06, itwas an explosive night for Longhorn fans.

Congratulations to the Texas Longhorns, college football's 2005 National Champions! Vince Young, as slippery as a bar of soap in the shower, slipped past USC's defense for the decisive touchdown in a dramatic 41-38 victory.

It was a festive atmosphere from the start for fans of both teams. The entire area around the Rose Bowl was full hours before kickoff as people partied around RVs, motorhomes, cars, party buses and limos. This is our photo journal of the day. Below is a party guide for where – and how – to party at the Rose Bowl.

And be sure and check out PubClub's list of Top Party Schools.

PubClub got hooked on the horns because of these tailgating Texas hotties.

A common sign: Tickets wanted.
