Nikstock Festival Music & Party Guide
A Modern-Day Woodstock Features 100 Kegs of Beer

The Buzz is one of the many bands that are fans of Nikstock.

Music and beer. Lots of music and cheap beer.

This is Nikstock, a modern-day Woodstock held in southern New York, at a campground in Loundsberry near the Pennsylvania border. Primarily featuring local and up-and-coming acts, it's a showcase of raw and developing talent in a party-friendly environment.

How does 40 bands, two stages and 100 kegs (with beers costing just 25 cents!) sound? Nikstock is play hard, listen hard, party hard.

Nick Fucco has been putting on this "mini-Woodstock" festival for more than 20 years. What started out as a reason to showcase local bands while partying with 100 kegs (the first Nikstock was named 100 Kegger) has turned into a full weekend of camping, (showers are available) partying all night and showcasing the best talent that region of the country has to offer.

"What a concept," said Brent Kendall of band "The Buzz." We attended the festival in NY the last two years in a row. Great bands, a great time and all built around a rock and roll party format. With two stages the party is nonstop. While one band is putting on their show of shows, another band on the opposite end of the field setting up their show. When one band ends, another band begins.

"The basic concept is rock music, partying and camping out, so you don't have to drive home. Who wants to go home at 2 AM? There is non-stop partying all night with some of the best music the local music scene."

This year The Buzz will be playing on Friday night, as well as favorite local bands (Nightmare, Tempter, Trace DeVai, Callahan, Rainshine, Wood and Drunk in the Garage). Kendall will be on another stage later during Nikstock as a judge for the annual bikini contest.

The partying keeps going right up until the culmination of the event with the bikini contest. The event draws a diverse mix of people – "plenty of hot babes" Kendall says – who like rock music, smoking, drinking and partying.

Each band is assigned 20 to 70 tickets they are expected to sell at a discount price, depending upon the time slot. Naturally the best time slot will go for a premium while the lesser valued time slot will go for a discount. Bands sell their tickets for $25 per ticket, which is $15 off the door charge of the two day, two night event.

While it may not be Ozzfest, Ozzy had better watch out because anyone who knows Nik and his style of business will know Nikstock has a bright future in showcasing the best bands in the local scene and putting on a party anyone who attends won't soon forget.

In the future, look out for a Nikstock style rock bar (Club Rock) on LA's Sunset Strip serving up hard drinks, hard rock with an all-night party concept.
