Prix
Join us this Friday,
April 9, for a Pre Prix Party to celebrate the 30th anniversary
of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.
We will be at a legendary club in Los Angeles, Harry O's,
the place where Kelsey Graham met his fiancée (though not the
one he eventually married), the spot Mike Piazza told Sports Illustrated
he would miss the most after being traded from the LA Dodgers to the
New York Mets and where the National Hockey League players go to party
after Kings games.
We will be GIVING AWAY sets of tickets to the Grand Prix,
which is April 16-18 in the downtown streets of Long Beach, CA. (Brush
up on your trivia by reading the race history by clicking on the link
below) This annual rite of Spring in Southern California attracts 250,000
people over three days and is such a party, some never even see the
race!
There will be merchandise drawings, prizes and other goodies.
Plus, we will be signing up people for the Harry O's/PubClub.com Party
Bus, which will be going to the Grand Prix on Saturday, April 17. Details
below.
Harry O's is located at 3600 Highland Ave., Manhattan
Beach. Phone: (310) 545-4444.

Grand
Prix Party Bus, April 17

This is the crew
from 2003 upon arrival at the Grand Prix.
The Party Bus will be greeted by
the smilin' staff of Harry O's at 9:30 on Saturday, April 17. They will
be serving specials on bloody marys and mimosas until the bus' departure
at 10:30 a.m.
The Grand Prix is a daytime party we will arrive
at approximately 11:30, in time to pose for the press (see above), then
it's off to the margarita and taco stand at the entrance to the Champ
Car paddock before grabbing a good viewing spot for the entertaining
Pro/Celebrity race which beings at noon. Champ Car qualifying is several
drinks later in the afternoon.
Our Party Guide page has the to-do and where-to-do-it
info. Even if you've been many times in the past, the brand new Pike
at Rainbow Harbor will likely be as confusing as Turn One is to the
celebrities. There are lots of new places; some are within the Grand
Prix grounds and some are not. Also new this year is the Miss Long Beach
Grand Prix Grid Girl pageant, which will be held from 6:30-8 in front
of the Performing Arts Center at Ocean and Long Beach Blvd. This is
being run by the same group that puts on the popular Miss Indy contests
in Canada and Australia.
It is preceded by a free concert (for those with tickets)
by Everclear.
The Party Bus will depart at 9:30 p.m., gettinhg back
to Harry O's by 10:30 where you can dance the night away to the typical
kickass live band. Cost is $50 for R/T ticket. Sign
up via PalPal.
And hey, if you aren't on the party bus, then use our
Long Beach guide anyway. You'll need it.
See you at the Everclear concert!

The Miss Grand Prix
pageant is modeled after the hugely successful Miss Indy.

There it is, the
St.
Patrick's Day Parade in Dublin.
Amy is leaving London but
she's not coming home yet.
After living in London and exploring that great city on
a daily basis, spending weekends in Amsterdam, Rome, Barcelona, Belgium,
Scotland and St. Patrick's Day in Ireland, our college student correspondent
is out to explore the rest of Europe.
First up is Switzerland, where she has an appointment
to skydive off a mountain.
Read Amy Jones' incredible first-person journals, travels
in Europe from the perspective of a college student. She's also updating
our existing city guides and helping to add new destinations. Her journey
begins here and new ones are added weekly:
