PubClub.com Newsletter:
September 2003

The trio of PubClubbers at the Huntington Beach Blowout Bash.

Yes, summer is almost at and end and fall is just around the corner.

But what the heck, it was FUN wasn't it?

We're #1!

So now it's fall. And with fall brings FOOTBALL, and with football comes tailgate parties (and tail?), bus trips to games, rivalries and bragging rights, bets over beers, tears and of course triumphs. Through it all, never forget the universal PubClub cheer: "Win or Lose, We Booze!"

Look for us at college games this season – we've already brought you photos from USC's clobbering of overrated Auburn. Our Trojan grad man on the spot said it was a "life moment" when the band and team came over to the USC fans after the game (below). We also had someone at the Oklahoma-Alabama game and have a correspondent rolling around Ole Miss that will bring you true Southern tailgate hospitality. Hottie Toddie!

Better Than College Game Day

What do those guys know anyway? Do you know Lee Corco's best line ever was when he coached (briefly) at Indiana. He had scheduled USC and when alumni questioned him at a banquet why the heck he would put such a nasty team on the schedule, albeit at home, when he was trying to build a program, Corso quipped: "I told you when I took this job I would bring a Rose Bowl team to Indiana."

It's as close as he got to the Rose Bowl, by the way.

So, other than the reasonable Reece Davis (Alabama alumn) those ESPN College Game Day boys don't know nearly as much as our own Bartender when it comes to the games. Read what he has to say about the biggest games before AND after they are played.

By the way, while on the subject of colleges, please note you can now book Spring Break trips on-line through our affiliate arrangement with Spring Break Trips. Just click on the logo on our Top Party Schools page!

Beach Blowout Bashes

The bars were packed for our pair of August Blowout Bashes. AVP pro beach volleyball players Adam Jewell (above) and Collin Smith served as Guest Bartenders at Sharkeez in Manhattan Beach and Arriba! Baja Cantina in Huntington Beach.

They served up patrons and PubClubbers, took their shots and were quite liberal when pouring

We also went out on the Towne. That's Towne with an "e" as in the very nice Manhattan Beach restaurant and bar. Highly recommended!

Beach volleyball season is over but look for more PubClub parties in the future.

One Night Stand – Toyko

No Shot in theDark – Our Guide to Tokyo hits the spot(s).

It may be the Far East, bit we're not far off at all with our NEW GUIDE to Tokyo!

Take a trip to this exotic and energetic city in Japan, where cover charges are sometimes $70 and cab rides from the airport can cost $200. But hey, beers are just $8 and shots cost the same as a cup of coffee ($10).

Our quick-read guide tells you how to do it right!

We then zip to Kyoto, a city best known for its temples. Well, until now that we've examined the bar scene.

To our Tokyo-based PubClubbers, let us know what think!

Mile High Updates

Good news: We found more "PubClub worthy" bars in Denver and have included them on the site. Everything from a hot new downtown dance club to the oldest tavern in town. Plus we've added a couple of excellent resturants to our dining guide.

We were in the Mile High City for the second annual Grand Prix of Denver and partied with crowds enjoying the Colorado-Colorado State football game and the Taste of Colorado. What a busy (buzzy?) Labor Day weekend!

By the way, while there we met Jake "The Snake" Plummer. For those not in the know, he's the new starting QB of the locally loved Broncos. Just for the record, he's one heck of a down-to-earth guy, the kind of person you would enjoy throwing a few beer back with and just shooting the breeze. So root for him on Sundays!

What's on Tap on PubClub.com

• We're headed to Montreal! By the time you read this, we will be roaming around this beautiful French Canadian city for the first time. We've heard of a breakfast place where the waitresses are completely naked! That's right, all they are wearing are shoes. It's our initial port of call, to be sure. What else does this city offer? We'll tell you, either in a One Night Stand or a full city guide. Until then, we will be providing glimpses through our Shot of the Day feature photos.
• Jimmy Buffett Concerts. If all goes according to plan, we will be at all three California shows – San Diego, Shoreline (SF/San Jose), capped at Irvine Meadows via the PubClub Party Bus!
• The Party at Your Fingertips. Not only are we organizing trips – how does New Year's Eve in Whistler sound!? – and organize your own groups for gatherings around the globe through our Nights on the Town section, but soon you can join other revelers from around the globe. We have just become an official affiliate of Contiki Travel, the 20-something party pros who do all the work so you can party! Look for the Contiki logos coming soon to PubClub's pages!
• More complete on-line reservations. Currently we offer hotels, but that will soon be expanded to airfare and rental cars. Soon, you can book your own adventures directly from our site. Be patient, though; with more than 500 pages of PubClub content, it will take some time to complete.

That's All Folks!

Well, it's Happy Hour where we are, so until next time keep your cocktail glasses full!

Sign up your friends to our site and be entered into a drawing to win PubClub.com merchandise. We just sent out 25 t-shirts last week!
