PubClub.com Newsletter:
It's
a Super Week for a Newsletter

A pair
of partiers we met while researching Jacksonville, FL.
Greetings PubClubbers!
Patriots or "Iggles?" For one, it's becoming routine. For
another, it's a BIG DEAl. And those "Iggles" fans are decending
on Jacksonville like Ponce de Leon.
Welcome to our Super Newsletter. It contains "Super" information,
gets jacked up in Jax, "beads" in on Fat Tuesday, takes a
visit to "Blonde-aritaville," sidesteps jury duty and finds
festivals and party events for the next few months.
FRONT-PAGE
LINKS
Because we have so much content, it sometimes
takes time to go through our home page to find our latest articles.
So what we've done is put key links in full view, directly under the
Shot of the Day. These links are to our most recent stories, updates
in articles or existing reviews that pertain to key dates (example,
for Fat Tuesday photos next week).
SUPER
STORIES

The site of Super
Bowl XXXIX, this Super Sunday.
During the holidays, PubClub spent time
in Jacksonville, FL, researching the Super Bowl city and its nightlife.
The result: A pair of winning articles. The kickoff article is a Super
Bowl Party Guide, which details the scene and public party events all
week while the touchdown is a bar and nightlife guide to Jacksonville.
So, what does PubClub think of Jax, as locals call it? Here's a sampling:
"Lynard Skynard is from here, as is 38 Special. So the place knows how
to party. But so is Slim Whitman."
And this: "Some would say that the NFL awarding the Super Bowl to Jacksonville
is like settling for a field goal. In the eyes of many of Florida's
other cities, Jacksonville is the Phoenix Cardinals of nightlife. In
some ways, it's a good point. Jacksonville may be in Florida, but it
is more closely aligned with its geographic neighbor to the north. Some
even refer to it as 'South Georgia.' Vegas-style mega-clubs are as rare
as Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl appearances and what many feel is the
best place in town is a smoky dive joint. Of course, we consider that
a good thing."

The 10K crowd in the beer garden the bigget Super Bowl party
of the day.
Sunday is also the Super Bowl 10K in
Redondo Beach, CA. With more than 10,000 participants, it's one of the
largest 10Ks on the West Coast. It's as much of a race for the beer
garden as anything. People in costumes ranging from The Village People
to the sexy girls in skimpy bridal gowns who go as the "Runaway Brides"
comprise the crowd. In the past, our own Team Sharkeez has gone with
grass skirts and buckets on our heads. This year, it's Team PubClub.

The Bartender. Right after the Christmas break, on the
heels of being on the front row of the National Championship Orange
Bowl, our columnist was sentenced to jury duty! See his thoughts on
the process and also find out how he got out of being chosen to serve.
Ironically, just after this was posted, the Los Angeles Times
ran a story on people who try and skip out of jury duty. What timing!

FUTURE
ARTICLES

Cutting loose in
Lauderdale.
South Florida. From fantastic Ft. Lauderdale to a rockin'
waterside Sunday reggae bar to the little shack of a place in a beautiful
cove where Allan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett filmed the video to "It's
5 O'clock Somewhere," we've got the party information for South Florida.
There's a lot to cover and it will be posted soon. While we're saving
Miami for another day, we will touch down on South Beach, where we spent
two nights during the Orange Bowl.
EVENTS

PubClub has posted
key artists and dates for JazzFest in New Orleans.
Not only is it a busy weekend, it's a busy next couple of months. Here's
a list of major events. These and other major festivals, parties and
events can be found on our Worldwide Events Calendar, which contains
dates, information and links to official sites and/or PubClub writeups.

Today is National Signing Day for all you college football
fans. It's a party if your school does well. But don't get too caught
up in the "rankings" some recruiting services put out now. It takes
two or even three years for the success (or lack thereof) of a recruiting
class to really be known.
The PGA's craziest event is this weekend at the Phoenix
Open. If it were not for the Super Bowl, it would be the biggest party
of this time of the year.
Sunday is also Bob Marley's 60th birthday celebration.
Sometime during the day, lift a rum drink to this music and social legend.
Mardi Gras is underway and Fat Tuesday is this Tuesday. That's
right, just in time to put that post-Super Bowl party recovery in the
rear-view mirror. Look for PubClub to be in San Diego, where the Gaslamp
District is blocked off for a huge street affair
Valentine's Day is Feb. 14, a Monday. President's
Day is Feb. 19, a week later than it's been the past few years.
The 77th annual Academy Awards are Sunday, Feb. 27. Hosted
by Chris Rock. Guys, don't plan any activities for that evening.
Music Festivals. South by Southwest in Austin is March
11-19. Coachella in Indio, CA, is April 30 and May 1, and JazzFest is
April 22-24 and April 28-May 1. Coachella's headline acts are Nine Inch
Nails, Coldplay, Gang of Four, Wilco and Bright Eyes, according to the
lineup just announced Tuesday. JazzFest also released its artist list,
which includes the Dave Matthews Band, Randy Newman, B.B. King and The
Radiators, a PubClub favorite that's wildly popular with locals
