Mammoth Mountain 2009-2010 Season!

Mammoth first opened in October but really cranks it up in mid-November.

After opening a full month earlier than expected on Oct. 16 due to an unexpected mid-fall storm that brought several feet of snow. Mammoth Mountain is experiencing even more snow into December.

It has 5 feet of new snow and has upcoming events, such as the Night of Lights on Dec. 19.

Then it's the Volcom Peanut Butter and Rail Jam for snowboarders. This is a free amateur snowboard contest series on Dec. 12. It's open to the public and presents a fresh new "jam style" competition format for the riders. Three park features are dug in side-by-each to create a single, large rail zone for the riders to hit as many times as they like within their 20-minute division. The spectator-friendly contest boasts a ton of free giveaways and prizes including a chance to win $50 straight up with Electric's "Gooeyest Move of the Day"! The top 5 competitors in each division will qualify for the championships on April 24.

On Dec. 19, Mammoth has its Night of Lights, a spectacular light show in the dark sky.

Mammoth Mountain, a favorite ski and snowboarding spot for Southern Californians from LA to San Diego, has a Main Lodge elevation of 8,900 feet and 11,053 feet at its summit.
