Parties on Football's Biggest Day

Big drinks for the
Big Game are a big part of Super Bowl Sunday.
The prime party time, be it for sports
nuts, football fans or just plain supreme social seekers, is Super Bowl
Sunday.
And while many bars plan for months just for a big day on the Big Day,
this is also the time for house parties. Some are small gatherings while
some are massive bashes with several hundred people.

How to Throw a Big-Game Bash
It may seem obvious but make sure
there are plenty of TVs, so people can see the game from all areas
of the room(s).
Provide beer, wine, spirits and mixers
but also encourage people to bring their own.
Keep the drinks and snacks in separate
locations to avoid cocktail and munching gridlock.
Keep the drink and snack locations
away from the main area of the room(s) so those watching the game
can have an unobstructed view.
Have enough bathrooms; rent a port-o-let
if necessary.
Guests should always either bring
their own drinks or supply a bottle or 12-pack for the hosts.
Invite fans from both Super Bowl
teams. That always spices things up a bit.

Being based in Southern California, PubClub attends an annual party
in Hermosa
Beach that's more of the latter. The happy hosts really turn
on the entertainment charm with TVs all about the house, inside and
out. They even project the game onto the living room wall and on a huge
wall at the back of a large outdoor patio.
At any given time, there are at least a hundred people at the house
and the ebb and flow of others coming in and out resembles players running
into the huddle in situation substitutions.
An anticipated tradition is the "halftime" show, often better
than what the NFL can produce for the actual game. For Super Bowl XXLI
between the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears, it was a live performance
by Ozzie Ozborne! Well, okay it was a look- and sound-alike, but he
screamed out a few tunes and te party gals and guys screamed their approval.
They've got it right at this party a grill grills up hotdogs
and hamburgers, a keg provides beer and an ample mix of mixed drinks
is a definite crowd-pleasers. Still, it's best to bring your own to
such parties, as it makes it much easier to keep your cocktail fresh.
After all, Super Bowl parties are great for friends, co-workers and
fans. But for many, it's one of the biggest single party events of the
year, on par with New
Year's Eve, the Fourth of July and St.
Patrick's Day

Howard the host (in Colts tee) throws an annual bash for hundreds of
South Bay singles. .
If the game is close, then people actually turn some of their socializing
away from the other singles to focus on the screen. If the contest is
decided into the third quarter, then the game returns to being a sideshow,
and a great excuse for creating this crazy scene.
