Images From A Beautiful Day at the Annual Downtown Run With Bands and Celebration
The annual Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair 10K was run under perfect conditions on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011. The sun was shining, the pier was glistening and it was a postcard day for the city and the runners.
There were bands along the route – the steel drums on Valley-Ardmore, up one of the hills, certainly provided an inspirational lift to the PubClub.com Bar Blogger – and the finish was festive. All photos from the race were taken while I was running, snapped without stopping.
After the race, Shellback Tavern – sporting a new, as-yet-to-be-beer-stained wood floor – was packed, people drinking pitchers of Bud to celebrate their finish. Exercise and socialize, indeed.
Many went home for a quick shower before heading to the rest of the Hometown Fair celebration where, of course, there’s a beer garden.
