Las Vegas Hotels Raise Resort Fees At Ceasars Properties

And Say Goodbye To Free Parking

You can still get a $29 room rate in Las Vegas.

But you may be paying more than that just for the resort fee.

Caesars Entertainment has raised the price of its resort fee to a whopping $32. That is something you pay every night, regardless of whether or not you use any of the “amenities.”

The Caesars properties include Caesars Palace (of course), Paris, Planet Hollywood, Nobu and the Cromwell. You can bet if this works, then other properties will soon follow because Vegas is trendy not just in its nightlife.

These resort fees are the bane of travelers. Just when you think you scored a great deal on the room, you soon learn that it’s not just a bargain after all. They should just raise the price of the room to the level covered by the resort fee. Or get rid of it.

But in tourist areas, you’re often stuck with it, because every hotel is doing it

Of course one way around this is short-term rentals like Airbnb. But in Vegas, hotels dominate The Strip and that’s where you’re spending all your time anyway. So for the Vegas hotels, a $32 resort fee may result in some bickering, among guests but they know they win in the end.

MGM Resorts To Charge For Parking

Oh, and here’s another “stick it to you” measure from a Vegas hotel chain: MGM Resorts announced it’s going to start charging for self and valet parking at “most” of its properties. It has long been a standard of Vegas not to charge for such things so you’ll spend you money on gambling.

But not anymore.

MGM Resorts owns Aria, Bellagio, Delano, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand (of course) Mirage, Monte Carlo, New York New York, Luxor, Excalibur, Circus Circus and Vdara,

It’s PubClub.com’s guess all but the lower-end properties (Luxor, Excalibur, Circus, Circus) will be those charging for parking. And watch those resort fees, too.

And now here’s something even worse: some high-end casinos (Aria) are no longer giving away free drinks when you gamble.

Las Vegas is changing and evolving, and not all of it is good.
