Mandalay Bay Gets A Taste Of L.A.’s Abbott Kinney Blvd.
A new restaurant and bar, Libertine Social, is opening in Mandalay Bay in August and it was inspired by a trip down Abbott Kinney Blvd., in Los Angeles’ Venice.
Libertine Social has open spaces, murals and different bars within the same space, including one that’s like a loft.
The ideas came during a trip to L.A., in which three key players,Chef Shawn McClain, Studio Munge’s Principal Interior Designer Alessandro Munge and Modern Mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim, went to Venice while in L.A.
“The eclecticism of Abbot Kinney is what really inspired the idea of Libertine Social,” McClain said. “While exploring the neighborhood, we created this fictional persona of ‘Kyle,’ who is the soul of the town – both as an entrepreneur and as the host of its social scene.
“Eventually, ‘Kyle’ would guide every decision we made while creating the concept and design for Libertine Social.”
The space will have the Voyager Lounge, which is the entry point, the fine English pub-style Social Bar, a patio that will bring to mind a rooftop terrace, a dining room, open kitchen and even a space for order food to go counter that’s somewhat like a food truck.
“It’s like walking into the loft space of your most stylish friend,” Munge said. :You simultaneously feel welcomed and intrigued by your surroundings.”
