This is the post 4th of July edition, meaning we are just now beginning to recover those brain cells lost last weekend.
SUMMER BEACH CITIES CONCERTS
Okay, don’t get toooo excited – the Hermosa concerts don’t begin until August. This Sunday kicks off the shows in Polliwog Park. This week it’s the South Bay Country Band. The Pine Mountain Logs play in August. Here’s the complete lineup:

SMACKFEST SOLD OUT!
If you hesitated to get a team signed up for Smackfest, you’re too late!!! One of the teams playing are the Lingerace Girls and let me say there will be more than volleyballs bouncing on their court! It’s not too late to sign up for their tournament, which is the week after Smackfest, making it July 30, in Santa Monica.

HERMOSA BEACH – A QUICK GUIDE TO ACTIVITIES, EVENTS, HAPPY HOURS & NIGHTLIFE
I’ve run into quite a few people who are either new to or visiting the South Bay and since I run out of breath telling them what to do, where to go and the Happy Hours, I now just give them this link, a “quick guide” to Hermosa Beach and the pier area. I suggest you do the same – saves a lot of time!

AVP MANHATTAN NEXT WEEKEND
The Wimbledon of Beach Volleyball is July 14-17. It’s the 57th annual tournament, once played for dinner at a restaurant and the pride of being “King of the Beach.”
SAN DIEGO IS THE PLACE TO BE FOR THE NEXT WEEK!
The hottest party place in the country for the next week is just down the coast in San Diego! This weekend kicks off the Major League Baseball All-Star Weekend, the undisputed highlight of which is a free block party in the Gaslamp.
It’s also the opening weekend of by bar the biggest beach party in California, the Over-the-Line tournament on Fiesta Island.
Next week, Del Mar Opening Day is Friday – it’s been moved from its traditional Wednesday – and then Saturday it’s the biggest day of the two-week OTL, the Miss Emerson contest. Here’s links on all three of these hot happenings:
