Bad TV Makes It Hard To Stay Out Of The Bars

Reality Shows & Too Many Channels With Nothing To Watch

Bad TV reality shows
Reality shows keep the remote clicking for PubClub.com’s blogger.

It’s a Thursday night and down the street a bar has 30% off for locals all night, several other bars have Happy Hour and one has an all-nite wine ladies night.

Yet I’m trying to be good and stay in tonite because, well, it’s not healthy to go out every night, right?

But what are my alternative entertainment options? TV, right. Well, not really.

Here’s what I’m up against. On the tube tonite is a yawning series of shows with names so uninspiring I don’t even want to cross them when channel surfing with the remote. Most of the titles have the word “Kill” in them and we wonder why people are so angry and we have so much violence in this country.

Seriously, one night I counted no less than a dozen shows with the word “Kill” in the title. It was too much to take, so I turned off the TV and went out to a bar.

I live in America, which means I have access to something like 200 channels and what, 50+ networks? The choices are ridiculous but how many do I wind up actually watching on a regular basis? Less than a dozen. And I’m sure I’m like most Americans in that regard.

My channels are focused mainly on sports with a little history, historic TV (classic comedies, if I can find them because they are so much better than that junk on today) and nature shows. I used to watch the Food Network (especially “Restaurant Impossible” when the eye-popping Taniya Nayak was the designer) but now it’s all really bad reality shows.

I love to travel but the Travel Channel is, well, I don’t know what they put on there now because I go past it so fast the titles don’t even slow me down for half a second.

And the networks? Once they became a series of endless drama-filled reality shows I don’t even bother with them anymore. Seriously. I can’t stand drama in my life or people around me and I’m sure not going to watch a bunch of drama created by people I don’t even know or don’t ever want to hang out with in real life.

What I usually wind up doing is going up and down the channels with the remote in my hand, time and time again. I keep saying to myself, “surely with this many channels, something good has to be on somewhere!” But about 70% of the time, nothing is, and that’s sad.

What a waste of my time and life!

So I go to bars. I can’t help it. Bad TV isn’t saving me!
