#SundayFunday At One OF LA’s Oldest Bars
Live music on Sunday nights in Los Angeles can be found at Tam O’Shanter – one of the oldest bars in L.A. – and here’s the May lineup of bands.
The music starts at 8 p.m., and goes until 11. There is no cover charge.
The May lineup of music acts includes:
• May 6: Ken O’Malley and Friends (rich, resonant tenor voice and engaging stage presence from this Ireland native who has been delighting audiences for over
• May 13: Whiskey Sunday (shared roots of Irish folk with a hearty pour of Americana, prairie winds, and riverside cabin hymns)
• May 20: Waking Kate (traditional Irish music played with modern fire)
• May 27: Bracken Band (Using a Celtic guitar and a fiddle with a backdrop of a percussionist, the band is influenced by artists like the Pogues, The Bothy Band, Van Morrison, Horslips, The Waterboys, U2, the Chieftans and Alison Krauss)
Additionally, the Tam’s longstanding house band, Ploughboys, plays every Thursday and on the first Friday of each month.
For food, there’s the Ale & Sandwich Bar menu (the Tam is part of the Lawry’s family of restaurants), that features a range of small bites, the restaurant’s signature hand-carved plates, side dishes, meats and cheeses that are sliced at the bar’s cheese and charcuterie station and other traditional pub items.
“One of the best Saturday night activities in L.A. is enjoying music and food at the Tam,” says John Lindquist, General Manager of Tam O’Shanter. “The atmosphere is festive, the crowd is welcoming, and the experience is simply fantastic.”
