Top Fourth Of July South Bay Party Tips
People hanging out on balconies flaunting cocktails in red solo cups, girls in bikinis and guys in board shorts dancing on patios to music and drinks being consumed from the (police) safety of walls along The Strand.
This is the 4th of July in Hermosa Beach, CA. It’s a unique Southern California scene, parties at houses across from the beach for two miles from 1st to 35th streets. At the end is the famous “90210 house,” the one used in the TV show “90210” and also the Dan Aykroyd and Kim Bassinger movie “My Stepmother’s An Alien””
You see people partying at these house parties and bikes lined up against the seawall at the bigger ones and that begs the question for those not from the area: how do I get into that party!?

• The best way to get into a party is to know someone at it. You don’t have to know the hosts, just someone at it. The strategy here is to hang out on The Strand and scope out the guests. See if there’s anyone there you know, even on a casual basic. If you recognize someone, make sure they see you.
• Always have your own drinks with you. There are so many party crashers that hosts are on full alert for them. One thing hosts hate is people whom they don’t know coming into their house and attacking their liquor supply. If you have your own drinks with you, show them to the host(s) and ask if you can come into the party; you may be invited to join it.
• Don’t be demanding or rude or pretend you know someone at the party. Hosts and their guests know how to recognize these people and you’ll be thrown out before you’ve had a chance to find the liquor supply.
• Be a hot girl in a red-white-and-blue bikini. Friendly guys with a 12-pack or case of beer or a bottle of booze may be able to talk their way into a house party but if you’re a hot girl in a patriotic bikini – okay, a hot girl period – you and your girlfriends can get into any party.
This being said, you can’t bring any guys with you and if you immediately start demanding drinks and scarfing up food, the other girls at the party will kick you out before you’ve even had a chance to fill up your red solo cup.
