Electric Boats Are Available From Electric Boat Rental
You’ve seen them on the water, the oversized dingys with the covered canvas top and people sitting inside eating, drinking and socializing while spending a great day cruising the bay in Newport Beach, CA.
They are the iconic symbol of Newport Beach, much like the Hollywood sign is to L.A.
And you can rent these boats and be on the water yourself.
Electric Boat Rental in Lido Village has several of these boats available 365 days a year. Yes, even during busy summer Saturdays and Sundays, the Fourth of July and the Newport Beach Boat Parade.
The cost is remarkably reasonable, too: $95 an hour with a two-hour minimum. If you’re a local, or happen to be in Newport Beach a lot, you can get unlimited use for $375 per month.
The boats hold up to 10 people, you bring your own food & drinks aboard – the delicious Lighthouse Bayview Cafe will deliver to your boat when you pull up to its dock – and you don’t need to hire a captain.
The boats only go 5 mph, so other than avoiding all the bigger boats and forgetting to put the throttle into neutral when approaching a dock there’s little harm that can be done to you or the boat. Electric Boat Rental provides a quick lesson at the dock and you’re on your way.
To be clear, these are not “Duffy boats.” Electric Boat Rental uses vessels made by Bombardier, which is a different company than the popular Newport Beach boats. But they look pretty much the same and are both powered by electric motors.
