Cotton Bowl & Orange Bowl Hosing Semifinals With Levi’s Stadium Site Of Championship Game
The College Football Playoffs won’t be on New Year’s Eve in 2018, or on New Year’s Day in 2019.
Instead, the semifinals will be held on Dec. 29, with the championship game taking place on Jan. 7.
The semifinal venues are the Cotton Bowl at Jerry’s World outside of Dallas and the Orange Bowl at Hard Rock stadium outside of Miami. Kickoffs are at 4 and 8 p.m., tho it’s still to be determined which will be the early game and which one will be the prime time one.
The title game will be taking place at Levi’s Stadium, which is closer to San Jose than it is San Francisco. It’s also an outdoor stadium and the weather that time of the year won’t be California balmy. In fact, it’s likely to be cool (in the 50s at night) with rain or damp conditions a distinct possibility.
There are four bowls on New Year’s Day: the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, the Fiesta Bowl outside of Phoenix, the Rose Bowl in Pasadena and the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.
The early “Final Four” favorites are Alabama, Georgia, Clemson and Ohio State, with Oklahoma, Wisconsin and Michigan other strong possibilities to make the playoffs.
