Another Sunny Day In This Los Angeles Paradise Destination

It’s just another sunny, 70-degree day.
Could be any day of the week, any time of the year.
But it just so happens that it’s a midweek day in September. A light breeze is blowing and I’m on my bike – a bicycle not a chopper – cruising The Strand in Manhattan Beach, CA.
There’s nothing particularly special about this day other than the special moments of being here, riding on a carless bike path along the beach with the California sun shining down on me. Being during the week, it’s pretty quiet without the buzz of a lot of people out on the weekend and every beach volleyball court taken up with local players or a tournament.
Sometimes travel, and enjoying a destination, is about these simple and nice times. You don’t have to be always on the go, doing something, taking a tour and doing so many things that mark being on the road. It can be like this, just kicking back and enjoying the location.
In Hawaii, they call this “hanging loose” and Manhattan Beach is a lot like Hawaii. In fact, sand from Manhattan Beach was used to build Waikiki Beach.
Now I’m at an advantage when it comes to Manhattan Beach, for I live just down The Strand from it in neighboring Hermosa Beach. So whenever I want to go to MB, all I have to do is hop on my baby-blue beach cruiser from Kona Brewing Co.
I do that quite often, of course, sometimes to refresh myself and sometimes just to get out there in this outdoor paradise.
If you’re wondering where the heck Manhattan Beach is located, by the way, it’s in Los Angeles. Only about 15 minutes south of the LAX airport, in fact.
So when you’re in L.A., take a few moments to check out Manhattan Beach. Just be prepared to hang loose and stay for a while.
Cheers!
