Sunsets & Rum Drinks – And A Little Roll Tide
This My Tour Tales is from a special place; it’s from PubClub.com World Headquarters, right on the beach in Hermosa Beach on the Southern California coast.
I was in Los Angeles and dropped down to see my buddy (and big fan) Kevin Wilkerson. He happens to live on what is called The Strand, which is a bike and running path that goes along the beach. It’s spectacular.
It was a Sunday late afternoon when I arrived and, as usual, several of Kevin’s friends were at his place. When you live on The Strand, you’ve got to expect friends coming over all the time and be a very social person.
I arrived just as the day was ending and wow, what an amazing place to watch the sunset. Not only is it beautiful, but there were lots of people hanging around, running and biking along The Strand. It’s a true Southern California beach scene.
We were hoping for a green flash and man, we got a killer one. I managed to get it on the video.
Once the sun set, the stars came out and it was a great setting.
We then went inside because Kevin has a tiki bar in the house. He made us the PubClub official “house drink,” which involves rum from the Caribbean and juices, a recipe he learned from his rum-loving buddy “Luau Larry.” And it was gooooodd.
He then told me why he’s such a huge fan of the University of Alabama.
Sometimes you need a good “get away” break from playing gigs and it’s great to have great friends where I can drop in and see while on the road. Especially when it’s a place like this, of course.
