Excited For This All-White Pop-Up Event At A Mystery Location

White pants, white shirt, white shoes and even white socks.
Got it all, and I’m ready for the foodie equivalent of the sports’ “white out,” Dinner en Blanc. PubClub.com will be, for the third consecutive year, at the Los Angeles version on Saturday, Sept. 29.
The location is – er, I don’t know.
And neither do the other 2,000 people who signed up months in advanced attending the pop-up dinner. We don’t know until two hours ahead of time. Actually, since I’m on one of the many buses chartered to take people to the event, I may not know until I actually arrive at the destination.
I am sure, as in the past, that the event and location will blow me away – Diner en Blanc can do that to a person.

It’s an all-white pop-up dinner at mystery location in which people bring everything and I mean everything. They bring their own tables, chairs, table decorations (some of which are pretty elaborate), even food. Wine and champagne are purchased on site.
As part of the press covering the event, PubClub does not have to do any of that (thank goodness!) so I and my associate walk around in awe and amazement at the effort people go through to make this a unique dining experience.
The event provides music (last year it was a violinist; what a nice touch to such a classy event) and then, after a couple of hours, a DJ takes over and the scene resembles that of a wedding reception party.
Last year’s event was held at the gorgeous Pasadena City Hall and the previous year it was in a downtown courtyard between the Mark Taper Forum and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
At the end of it, everyone packs up their belongings and even their trash, gets back on the buses and goes home, happy, full and fulfilled.
Me, too.
Cheers!
