Key West Has USA’s Best Weather This Week

If you’re in the Upper Midwest and East Coast of the USA in the middle of winter – where the week I’m posting this it’s supposed to drop to minus-20 in Chicago, minus-30 in Minneapolis and minus-35 Detroit – and are checking airline schedules on where to go to get out of that weather, then head to Florida.

I checked the weather forecasts for around the country this week and found it to be the warmest and driest place in America as we transition from January to February.

Here’s the forecasts for top destinations in the Sunshine State:

•Key West: upper 60s rising to upper 70s by the weekend, full of sunshine with no threat of rain. This is your best best for warm and sunny weather. Be sure and experience those sunsets at Mallory Square!

• Fort Myers/Sanibel Island: mid-60s to mid 70s, sunny with the possibility of a few clouds. There is a chance of rain at Sanibel on Sunday.

• Miami: 70-72 degrees, sunny turning to partly cloudy by the end of the week; showers likely on the weekend.

Ft. Lauderdale & Delray Beach: Same as Miami.

• Orlando: Rain on Friday; otherwise mostly sunny with some clouds with temperatures rising up mid- to upper-70s by the weekend.

The weather on the mid-West Coast of the state (Tampa, Clearwater, Siesta Key) is warm but rain is expected at times midweek into the weekend. The Panhandle (Destin, Panama City Beach) and the upper East Coast (Daytona Beach) has too much possible rain to consider at this time. I mean if you want to escape the cold, you want sunshine along with warm temperatures.

Here’s some other destinations that may pop into your mind:

• Los Angeles/San Diego: Rain on Thursday and thru the weekend

• Hawaii: Waikiki Beach has cloudy conditions and rain all week thru the weekend. And that’s better than Maui, which has nothing but rain all week, including on the weekend.

• Atlanta: Site of Super Bowl LIII has sunny skies but cool temperatures (mid-40s & mid-50s) up until game day when it’s expected to rain. The game is inside so weather will not be a factor when the Los Angeles Rams take on the New England Patriots.
