San Diego Craft Brewery Ballast Point Joins Mexico’s Modelo
The beers you will be drinking on the grounds of the 2019 Long Beach Grand Prix will be from San Diego craft brewery Ballast Point and Mexico’s Modelo Especial. Those brews have been announced as the official beers of the 45th annual racing event.
Ballast Point is the Official Craft Beer while Modelo Especial is the Official Beer of the 2019 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.
The brands have secured the marketing rights to the Grand Prix and will be promoting the race at participating retail locations throughout the Los Angeles area. Throughout race weekend, which is April 12-14 through the streets of Long Beach, CA, those beers will be the only ones sold on-site. Tho the bars around the Grand Prix will be selling whatever beers they serve on a regular basis.
Both Ballast Point and Modelo are part of Constellation Brands.
“We know our Modelo and Ballast Point activations will be great additions to the race fan promotions,” said John Ford, Marketing Director for Constellation Brands. We are particularly excited to showcase our amazing Long Beach Ballast Point Tasting Room overlooking Alamitos Bay as part of the festivities.”
Ballast Point Brewing began as Home Brew Mart in San Diego in 1992. Since then, it has grown into a national brewery. It’s flagship beers are the Sculpin IPA, the Unfiltered Sculptin IPA and the Manta Ray Double IPA.
Modelo Especial is a Pilsner-style Lager. Other beers are Modelo Negra™, Modelo Chelada Especial™ and most recently, Modelo Chelada Limon y Sal.
The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach is headlined by the NTT IndyCar Series, which runs on Sunday.
