Condor Airlines To Continue To Fly Despite Thomas Cook’s Insolvency

Government Asked To Come To Aid Of 65-Year-Old Airline

German leisure airline Condor Airlines will continue operations despite its parent company’s filing for insolvency.

Media reports have it asking for government assistance to keep flying. Condor’s planes had been  maintained by the Group Maintenance Organisation (GMO) of the Thomas Cook Group Airline.

Founded in 1955, Condor takes eight million passengers a year to more than 100 leisure destinations: the Mediterranean, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, and the Caribbean.

The airline released this statement:

“Condor flights will continue its flight operations despite the fact that its parent company Thomas Cook Group plc has filed for insolvency. Thomas Cook Group plc, the previous parent company, had to file for insolvency on 23 September 2019. Despite intensive efforts, the Group was unable to obtain refinancing from Fosun, banks and creditors. Condor continues to operate as a German company. In order to prevent liquidity constraints Condor has applied for a state-guaranteed bridging loan, which is currently under review by the Federal Government.
