Tower 12 In Hermosa Beach Is A Top LA Boston & Patriots Sports Bar

South Bay Pats Fans Gather To Watch Tom Brady & Team At This LA Beach Cities Location

As if there’s any question upon walking up the stairs and into either the front or back bar that Tower 12 in Hermosa Beach is a bar for transplanted people from Boston watching their teams in Los Angeles, the roar of the crowd will settle it for you.

It’s most definitely the place to. watch the Patriots, Red Sox and even Bruins in this LA beach city. In the fall, it’s where fans  put on their Tom Brady jerseys and watch the New England Patriots games.

 

The other big Boston bar in Los Angeles, Sonny McLeans in inland Santa Monica, is a little more “intense” with the super-passionate fans, but Tower is larger and rarely requires people to arrive an hour (or two) before games in order to get inside. It’s also a half a block from the beach at the Hermosa Beach Pier and has a bit more of a laid-back fan base. Not that Boston fans are all that laid back, but nobody seems ready to jump off the balcony here if the Red Sox or Patriots lose.

Actually, Hermosa has two Patriots bars.  The other is The Deck, which has the advantage of being right on The Strand. It’s just that Tower 12 is located where Fat Face Fenner’s used to be and that bar was owned by a Bostonian, so a game-watching tradition was established years ago at this spot. Tower 12 is a cool bar that is one level up above ground and the other bars, restaurants and activities of the pedestrian Pier Plaza. There are two bars areas, one in the front and another in the back. The menu is solid, with a variety of great food, the bartenders mix up creative cocktails and there are at least two dozen beers on tap.

On weekend nights, it’s a very popular nightspot and packs in people not only to the front area where bartender Juan is a friend to just about everyone in the entire South Bay, but the back where there’s sometimes a band, karaoke or just good living.

It also has something rare in these parts, and that’s a decent amount of deck space to enjoy the splendid California weather. That’s something one would not want to do in Boston on a crisp fall day – watch the Patriots while seated outside. You can do that – and do it comfortably – at Tower 12.
