Sin City Won’t Be Quite So Sinful Due To These COVID-19 Protections
Two Las Vegas resort properties, MGM Grand and the Venetian/Palazzo, have announced they are planning on re-opening in June.
But each comes with a list of restrictions and as a result, Sin City won’t be quite so sinful with these COVID-19 protections. The MGM has put these guidelines in place and no actual date has been set by either property:
• A 6-foot Distancing Policy. People will not be allowed to stand next to each other on the casino floor, people playing slot machines must sit six feet apart and there will be limited seating at table games.
• No Standing Watching Friends Gamble. You won’t be allowed to stand around a friend who is gambling, even if he or she is winning big. That used to be a fun and popular activity among friends in Vegas.
• Hand Washing Stations. These will be placed throughout the casino.
• Touch-free Check-in And Restaurant Reservations. Guests will use apps to check in and will receive a text from a restaurant when their table is ready to avoid people standing in lines.
• Limited Entry Points & Temperature Checks. This one is to be determined how exactly it will be implemented, but the idea is to check everyone’s temperature before allowing them onto the property.
In addition to these measures for guests, all employees at any resort (as well as restaurants, bars, nightclubs, etc.) will have to take a virus test and must have a negative result in order to work.
Speaking of nightclubs, there’s no word on when any of the mega Vegas clubs will be reopening. That could not happen for several months as it’s almost impossible to keep social distance in a club, let alone enforce it.
And forget about the dayclubs and pool parties for this season.
So the Vegas you go back to won’t be the Vegas you’re used to, but no other place you travel to now will be, either.
