New Form Of Nightlife Is A Flashback To The 50s

A new form of nightlife is a throwback to an old form as event promoters Global Soundemic have launched a type of entertainment that is modeled after the old drive-in movies.
Called the Drive-In Dance Party Series, it involves people arriving to a large, open area in their cars but instead of being seated behind a “dashboard of paradise lights” while watching a movie (or at least coming up for air to see what’s on the screen), they step outside to dance to a DJ.
The first one is Sunday, Aug, 30, at the Ventura Country Fairgrounds, located at 10 W Harbor Blvd, Ventura, CA. Gates open at 6 p.m. This is the first of several events planned for throughout Southern California.
Tickets, which is per car and not per person, are not cheap. The prices start at $99 for the last row and goes all the way up to $1,750 for the “Ulta-Premium VIP Experience.” A front-row parking spot is $299. No tickets will be sold on-site.
Global Soundemic refers to the events as high-profile drive-in experiences, starting with a series of DJ-driven dance parties in Southern California. It is partnering with Pop-Up Agency to put on the events.
“We’ve been masters of creating dynamic experiences for our artist clients that elevate the moment,” said Pop Up Agency Partner & Global Soundemic Co-Founder Marcus Howard. “2020 pushed us to innovate our core ideals and we knew early on that Drive-In’s would be one way we could help bring live entertainment back to the masses.”
The shows last for an hour and 15 minutes and while there are bathrooms at the venues, there are no concessions, so it’s bring your own for what you want to consume. Obviously, drinking and driving is against the law so if that’s part of your party plans, bring along a designated driver.
You can bring lawn chairs and get out of your car to dance, but you must be next to your vehicle at all times and wear a mask.
