I like Terry Bradshaw.
Oh, I’ve never met him but I have a feeling we would get along great because we would understand each other.
He’s a sports guy and I’m a sports guy. I love football and he played football. He’s from the South (Louisiana) and I’m from the South (Tennessee).
But beyond that, he’s done something that really has me liking the guy. Unlike many former athletes who buy a vineyard and start making wines, Bradshaw is involved in bourbon. Bradshaw Bourbon.
That’s Southern. Meat-and-potatoes-stuff. A hard-nosed football mentality. I can picture us bouncing down a two-lane highway in a truck somewhere in the South, George Straight’s “All My Ex’s Live In Texas” blaring on the stereo while on our way to sitting down and having some Bradshaw Bourbon. Although I understand he is really into riding horses but I bet he also tools around in a beat-up pickup truck from time to time.

The bourbon is aged a minimum of two years in new charred oak barrels and the tasting notes are of vanilla, toffee, banana with a taste of cinnamon, spices and even coconut with a wood and butterscotch finish. It is made in the heart of Kentucky bourbon territory at the Green River Distilling Co. It is 103 proof and the 51.9% alcohol by volume is his career completion percentage. It received a 91 rating from Wine Enthusiast.
It’s also priced at a Southern- and football fans-friendly price of $39.99.
Bradshaw attends sales meetings and was heavily involved in the development of the product.
The bottles themselves are cool for football fans to have displayed in their liquor cabinet and could almost be considered collector’s items by diehard Steelers fans. The labels contains the letters IX, X, XIII and XIV, signifying the Super Bowls he won on his way to being an NFL Hall Of Fame quarterback. They also have his autograph.
But it’s what is inside those bottles that really counts and in that area, Bradshaw is a winner once again.
