There is a story out there – one now, more likely to come – that states the San Diego Padres are limiting tickets for the Major League Playoffs aimed specifically to keep Dodgers fans from taking over Petco Park.
Not true.
That is a headline-grabbing, click-bait story that was obviously written by a Dodgers fan.
Regarding this particular false journalism story, it promoted an angry response from one Padres season-ticket holder who messaged this to PubClub.com:
“This is total. B*******,” she messaged. “The rule that came out was done prior to being able to purchase tickets on the 22nd of September, not knowing that it would be against the dodgers and whoever wrote this must be a dodgers fan and just use it against that. The whole purpose was to keep Padres fans going to the game and not have tickets scalpers pick up everything. We didn’t even know we would make it that far yet when they put those rules out. So screw the whoever wrote this article.”
It was written by someone at Sports Illustrated, no less, a once revered publication that basically had novelist writing sports stories. One of the founding writers was Hall of Fame sports journalist Jim Murray. Oh, what has happened to the profession of journalism these days? It’s been suckered into the click-bait world of the Internet.
