Spring Forward – Daylight Savings Time Is Sunday March 12

Sunday, March 12 is Daylight Savings Time so remember to spring forward – and not fall back– when resetting your clocks. That includes your microwave, stove and the one in your car (don’t you hate it when you get in someone’s vehicle and the clock is either an hour ahead or an hour behind the real time?!).

So if you have to get up on Sunday morning for church, work or an event then you will lose an hour of sleep. If you’ve been out pubclubbing on Saturday night and have no time obligations on Sunday, then you can sleep in as usual.

And that’s good because Saturday, March 11 is when there are a lot of the St. Patrick’s Day parades and post-parade parties. Waking up can be difficult enough the next morning and losing an hour of time when you have something to do on Daylight Savings Time is something to keep in mind when your friends are encouraging to take those St. Paddy’s Day whiskey shots.

Many – most, if you listen to some news reports and believe what you see on social media – Americans want to go to year-round Daylight Savings Time. Originally created for farmers and school children so the latter would not have to wait outside in the dark for a bus, it is a good idea that does not necessarily have as many benefits today.

Few people like it when it gets dark at 4:30 or 5 in the cold winter months.

Looking ahead, if you are wondering when does daylight savings time end in 2023, it is Nov. 5.
