The Guard Goes Down And The Odds Go Up When Daytime Transitions Into Nighttime
Speaking from experience, the best time to pick up girls in a bar is not at the peak party times or even last call.
It’s during the period which I refer to as “transition time.”
What the heck is “transition time,” you ask? And what makes it such a good pickup time?
Well, transition time is the timeframe between afternoon and evening. It’s one of the slowest times of the bars on weekends, when the daytime crowd is departing and before the night owls arrive. It’s actually the period when the bar is clearing out, when people who are in the are going to dinner and/or to change and relax before going out at the night.
And it’s long before those who party exclusively after dark hit the streets.
Generally speaking, “transition time” is just past sunset. I call it transition time because it’s when the bar – and the people – begin to make the transition from daytime to nighttime.
And now the really important part of this article, and that’s what makes it such a great time to pick up girls (or girls, to pick up on guys).
The key to transition time is that unlike the night, you can catch girls with their guard down. They are not necessarily expecting to get hit on, so they don’t have their nighttime deflector shields activated. (I’m not a geeky Trekkie by any means; this is just an appropriate metaphor.)
Pick-up lines that have no chance after dark can get a laugh, and that’s enough to put the hook in a girl and reel her into the boat (because, face it, we’re all out there fishing in bars with a lot of lines in the water). Now I’m not much of a believer in pick-up lines, but I have a couple in my hip pocket and I bring them out during “transition time.”
This is when you can be your silly best, because the girls are willing to listen and most of the competition has left to get ready for the night.
Plus, if your lines come up empty, you’ve still got the rest of the night to go fishing.
