Fun Beach Coed Volleyball Tournament Lasts All Week
It’s a full week of fun for one of the top social events of the South Bay in LA’s Beach Cities.
It’s Smackfest week!
There are drink specials at the bars (since Bud Light is prime event sponsor, expect a lot of specials on bottled and draft beers at the bars), free gear, prizes, and lots more. The team captains meeting on Thursday is open to everyone, there’s a great cover band at Hennesseys for the post-party on Saturday and, for the first time, a post event brunch on Sunday Funday.
And of course there’s the event itself, which is Saturday, July 20, starting at 8 a.m., and going until well, whenever you call it a night, right!?
Smackfest is a cool coed beach volleyball tournament with several hundred teams all dressed up in themed costumes. It takes over the north part of the beach at the Hermosa Pier and it’s free to the public to walk up and watch. Just watch drinking on the beach because it’s not allowed.
For that, there’s the official party bar of Smackfest, Sharkeez. Throughout the day players wander in and out of Sharkeez, downing those Bud Light specials by the pitcher. If you want to see the Southern California beach culture up close, this is it folks!

MONDAY– Smackfest Wk Kickoff/Fashion Industry Night at Sharkeez, 9pm Hermosa Beach
THURSDAY – Smackfest Captains Pre Party-mandatory at Studio, 830pm Hermosa Beach
SATURDAY ALL DAY – Smackfest All Day Party 9am – 8pm Sharkeez, Hermosa Beach
SATURDAY NIGHT – Smackfest Post Party 8pm till close at Hennessey’s, Hermosa Beach
SUNDAY – Smackfest Brunch/Sunday Funday 11am-6pm Ocean Bar/ Abigaile, Hermosa Beach
