Opera Bar, Soldier Of Fortune Pub And Harbor Views Are On Blogger’s Last-Day Agenda
Thank you Australia, for ending my month-long trip here by making it super-sunny on my last day in your country.
There’s not a cloud in the blue sky of Sydney and I’m taking full advantage of it.
I began the day with a run from the Opera House to and through the Botanical Gardens, cooing over the magnificent views over Sydney Harbor. I ended the run “Rocky” style by racing up the Opera House stairs and doing a little dance. Someone even said “Rocky!” to me as I was running by her up the steps.
On the afternoon and evening agenda is to retrace those steps with camera in hand; this is one part of Sydney I had yet to explore. Didn’t know it was there until today, really.
I was initially kind of bummed that my week-long ferry pass ($60, includes all trains and buses, too) had expired yesterday. After two and a half days of rain, of which I spent mostly in the comfy lounge/TV room of the Australian Pub Hotel, I wanted to take every ferry to everywhere in the area. These ferry rides are one of the coolest things about being in Sydney.
But after seeing what’s on the back side of the Opera House, I’m not so disappointed that I won’t be taking any ferries today.
I’ll grab a sandwich from a vendor and find a spot in a with a harbor view to eat it for lunch – no beer, tho, you can’t drink in public places in Australia, dang it! – and may again walk over the Harbor Bridge. Whatever I do, there is likely to be a stop in a pub or two along the way.
As evening approaches, I will be at the fantastic Opera Bar, and then will of course have to go into the friendliest pub in The Rocks if not in all of Sydney, the Soldier Of Fortune.
After that, who knows!? My flight back to Los Angeles isn’t until 3 in the afternoon.
Cheers!
