Happy Hour Prices & Live Music At The HB Pier
The South Bay has a long history of hot, happening, “must do” Sunday afternoon/evening bars: Beach Bum Bert’s, La Paz, 12th Street, H2O, Chiller’s, Harry O’s, Sharkeez Hermosa.
And now, after a recent void, add Patrick Molloy’s to the list.
The bar on Hermosa’s Pier Plaza is rocking on Sunday nights with a non-stop reggae-ish band, Happy Hour drink prices ($3 domestic beers, $4 imports, $3 mixed drinks) and a casual, drinking beach crowd.
The band, which plays song after song after song, keeps the small dance floor jumping and the drink prices keep the rest of the bar busy. It’s kicked back, laid back and almost like being in the Caribbean.
One of the tunes the band plays is what PubClub.com calls “the Hermosa Beach Song,” a catchy melody about the lifestyle in this beach city.
The party starts at around 7 and goes until closing. The crowd ebbs and flows like the ocean’s tide just out the door, but it’s always lively. Several people stroll in from the Mermaid, where they’ve been watching he sunset, already a few drinks into the day.
And while it’s not the crazy wild singles scene as the ‘ol South Bay Sunday night bars – Harry O’s was known locally as “the Last Chance Saloon” for single people still on the prowl the final moments of the weekend – it’s a beachin’ evening in the Beach Cities.
