Pints of Pale 31 To Help Raise Money For The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation

Drink up and help a military family member go to college.
Now that’s something worthy of a cheers or two.
Barney’s Beanery sports bars in Los Angeles has toasted glasses with Firestone Walker Brewing Company to create Boot Camp Beer, a program that donates 50 cents from the sale of each pint of the brewery’s Pale 31 ale to the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation.
The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation provides need-based scholarships to children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen, with particular attention given to those whose parent has been killed or wounded in combat, or who have demonstrated financial need.
The program runs through Memorial Day and Boot Camp Beer is on tap at all five Barney’s Beanery locations: West Hollywood, Santa Monica/Third Street Promenade, Old Town Pasadena, Burbank/The Collections, and Westwood Village.
“Firestone Walker’s Pale 31 is one of our most popular beers on tap, so we expect this program to generate significant ongoing donations to the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation,” said AJ Sacher, regional manager for Barney’s Beanery.
According to Sacher, the Boot Camp Beer program was conceived by David Houston, co-owner of the Barney’s Beanery franchise. Houston’s father served in the Navy, and he grew up on military bases.
“He has always had a strong attachment to the military,” Sacher said. “We already offer a discount to uniformed armed services personnel, but David wanted to do something more, something that all of our patrons could be involved in.”
Founded in Santa Barbara County in 1996, Firestone Walker Brewing Company is a regional California brewery specializing in pale ales. Pale 31 has won gold medals at the World Beer Cup, Great American Beer Festival, Australian International Beer Awards, California State Fair and other beer competitions.
