Last Weekend Of Lou Giovannetti is July 26-28

Lou’s crooning on Sunday nights has been somewhat of a special secret of sorts to a small, by regular, group of loungers in Manhattan Beach, CA.
They are not lounging on the beach when listening to Lou sing Frank Sinatra, but at the Side Door, a small bar and lounge tucked into a downtown corner at 9th Street and Manhattan Ave. But now, Lou is clearing not just his threat, but his responsibilities, as he has sold the SIde Door. The last weekend is July 24-28.
Lou will be behind the bar all weekend and says he may even make a step to the microphone one last time on Sunday evening. Because the SIde Door is so small, he suggests making a reservation by calling (310) 722-1084.
The Side Door is really just a well-appointed living room of sorts for locals who like to go out in Vegas-style classy decor, but without the Vegas-style glitz. It’s classy but comfortable. And tiny.
Capacity is only a couple of dozen of people so it doesn’t take much of a crowd to fill up the place.
After the 28th, Lou is turning the bar over to Nicolas Klutka, who will, according to Lou “usher in the new concept with the same energy and care that made Side Door a MB staple for over a decade.”
I hope that nick, considering his name, will make Side Door something resembling those great bars in the Greek Islands. It will have to be something more akin to the Tropical Bar in Santorini rather than the in Skandianavian Bar Mykonos.
Cheers, and cheers to Lou and Side Door!
