British Virgin Islands Not Ready To Host Event After Devastation From Storm

It’s official.
What was painfully obvious to anyone in or keeping up with damage caused by Hurricane Irma in the Virgin Islands became fact on Wednesday, Sept. 13.
The Moorings has canceled the 2017 Interline Regatta, scheduled for Oct. 10-17. Here is the official statement from The Moorings:
“Over the past few days, the Caribbean islands so many of us have come to know and love were dealt a terrible blow by hurricane Irma. As many of you are aware, The Moorings has suffered extensive damage to our fleet and marinas in the British Virgin Islands and St. Martin.
“We are determined to recover and to help rebuild, however it is with heavy heart that we must announce the cancellation of the 2017 Interline Regatta.
“We are actively reaching out to all guests with charters reserved through October 31, 2017 to reschedule their charters.
“At this time our priority is the safety and well-being of our clients and employees in the BVI, St. Martin, and Florida. As of Tuesday, September 12 we can report that all Moorings clients have been evacuated from Tortola via San Juan and Antigua, and we did not have any clients in St. Martin.
“We have established a PayPal account, which can be found below, which will go directly to provide short term relief to our employees in the Virgin Islands and St. Martin.
“The tourism industry is the beating heart of the Caribbean, and we fully intend to come back stronger than ever. We thank each and every one of you for your support in this trying time, and look forward to celebrating the rebirth of our beloved islands in the months to come.”
