4th Of July Hermosa Beach 2016 Weekend Party Report

June 30, 2016 by kevinwilkerson 1 Comment

House Parties, The Strand, The Ironman, Shade Rooftop Party & Fireworks

4th of July Hermosa Beach Strand
The Hermosa Beach Strand is a happening party place for the 4th of July.

We are starting off with this 4th of July Weekend tip: Stock up NOW on your beer and cocktails for the weekend.

You don’t want to wait until Sunday or certainly Monday to do it; on Monday there are lines out the liquor stores (especially Mickey’s in Hermosa) that rival those at Las Vegas nightclubs. Vons is selling 12-packs of Kona beer for $13.99 – that’s a bargain folks, for great beer.

THE 4TH OF JULY IN HERMOSA BEACH

Is it just coincidence that Shark Week is the same week as the 4th of July!? One thing is for sure, there will be a lot of land sharks on The Strand throughout the weekend! This is the top party time of the year, when houses up and down

The Strand in Hermosa have house party after house party. Some are intimate, with just a couple dozen people while others have DJs and bands. Of course, the scene on The Strand is something to experience as well!

If you’re new to the area, this is pretty much all in Hermosa Beach. Note that in front of the bigger parties, you’ll have to walk your bike because The Strand is co crowded with people. The parties will start to break out on Saturday and will reach a peak on Monday.

As you might expect, PubClub has saturated the Internet with stories about the 4th, what to do, what not to do, a schedule of the “unofficial” events including the Michael Jackson party. A funny thing happened with one of these articles; it has photo of a couple girls walking down The Strand and one went to Twitter to say it’s important to be on alert the whole time because you may wind up on PubClub.com!

DRINKING IN PUBLIC ON THE 4TH OF JULY

You know the drill – if you do it on the beach or on The Strand, hide it. The cops actually set up a “command post” at 2nd Street on the 4th. But just to review, here’s the rules.

DEALING WITH HOUSE PARTY CRASHERS

This is a story PubClub.com is going to have to post, for it applies to all house parties regardless of occasion. When you have a party crasher, don’t feed the kitty. The best way to get someone to leave is not to serve them any booze.

Make sure they do not get any – on their own, from you or from another guest. Soon enough, they will move on to bother another party.

A party crasher is like one of those sharks on Shark Week – it will hang around only if there’s a good “food” supply, and in this case that food supply is alcohol.

THE HERMOSA BEACH IRONMAN

Exercise and socialize, Hermosa Beach 4th of July style! If you go to be a spectator, just be sure and stand clear when people are downing the last cans of those 6-packs and don’t get too close to the mosh pit!

FIREWORKS FOR THE 4th IN THE SOUTH BAY

The Redondo Beach fireworks start at 9 and if you’re on the beach by the water and look to the north, you can probably also see the Marina del Rey fireworks. If you’re curious about the “party” at Seaside Lagoon in Redondo that at one time had a bar and bands, it’s a non-alcohol event this year. So forget it, right!?

JOE’S BAND SATURDAY AT STANDING ROOM

This will get you in the party mood for the 4th, the fun party band playing at Standing Room! Starts at 9:30, band time. No cover…At Saint Rocke, there’s live music all weekend highlighted by a 9-piece Bob Marley cover band on Sunday (9 p.m., $12).

SHADE HOTEL ROOFTOP PARTY SUNDAY

If the first event is any indication – packed even tho it was June Gloom – then this one is going to be awesome. The second of three Shade Hotel rooftop parties is this Sunday afternoon. Here’s my review of the first one and this one will likely be even better!

LAS VEGAS FOR THE 4TH

If you’re going to Sin City this weekend, there’s a block party taking place at Ceasars Palace.

This reaches a climax on Sunday with a show by one of those American Idol winners (let it be stated for the record that I pay no attention to American Idol) followed by the Red Bull Air Force swooping down to land on the Strip and a 13 1/2-minute fireworks display. Here’s deets, including the name of that American Idol winner:

TRUMP GA TICKETS SOLD OUT – TICKET EXCHANGE SITE

Two hours. That was how long it took to sell out of GA tickets to the Trump Wine & Beer Festival. If you did not get them then fear not, for PubClub has set up a ticket exchange page. If you need tickets, or have tickets for sale, then simply post a comment and connect. It’s my hope this will reduce all those profiteers posting on Craig’s List:

SIGN UP FOR LINGERACE!

Ladies, there’s spots open for teams for this beach volleyball tournament – yes, you play in lingerie – and it’s going to be on KDOC TV! The event is Saturday, July 30.
