Hermosa Beach Sunday Live Music At HBYC

#SundayFunday At Hermosa Beach Yacht Club

This dynamic duo belts out the blues Sunday nites at Hermosa Beach Yacht Club.

Sundays in the South Bay are often #SundayFunday and here’s where to go to hear live music.

The Hermosa Beach Yacht Club – or HBYC as it’s affectionally known by locals – has acoustic music in the early evenings, perfectly timed to be after a day on the sand playing beach volleyball and/or riding bikes along The Strand.

Guitarist Mark Kitchett plays from 6-8 p.m., and this is no soft-plucking guy singing folk songs. He brings a buddy with him and together they belt out the blues, something you don’t normally hear in the South Bay.

The guys are great and in just a short time, have made HBYC a post-afternoon Sunday destination.

During that time, there are $3 glasses of champagne and mimosas – good champagne, too, poured to the top of wine glasses – and a bottle of Menage a Trios wine is $24 (a glass is $6).

HBYC also has 32-ounce schooners of beer ($7 for Bud Light and Coors Light) and a good selection of beer in bottles, as well as other wine selections.

It also has very good food, in particular the burgers, made with fresh 1/3-pound Angus beef. The chicken sandwich is also excellent. Be sure and get them both with the bar’s unique and delicious HBYC chips, kind of a hybrid between homemade potato chips and fries.

Two of the hot bartenders stand ready to welcome you into the Hermosa Beach Yacht Club.

HBYC also has sexy bartenders, kind of Hooters girls without the white shirts and short orange shorts. And when the live music stops, there’s fun party music on the juke box.

The other places for live music in Hermosa Beach on Sundays are Patrick Molly’s on the pier (5-close; click here for Happy Hour deals), the Lighthouse Cafe at the pier and Saint Rocke on PCH and 2nd Street. The Lighthouse sometimes has a small cover charge ($5) while Saint Rocke – which features touring and popular local bands – usually has one ($10-20).

The Hermosa Beach Yacht Club is located at 1st Street and Hermosa Ave., in the white building with the blue awning, across from Mickey’s Deli.

Address: 66 Hermosa Ave., Hermosa Beach, CA
