Comedy Troupe Brings Laughter On NYE In L.A.

If you’re looking for a different kind of New Year’s Eve, then consider laughing your way into 20117.

The Groundlings Theater in Los Angeles is having a special NYE show of its comedy troupe – including some surprise alumni of the improv group – on Dec. 31.

The show starts at 10 p.m., and there will be a champagne toast afterward at midnight. There’s also a pre-party with margaritas and tacos starting at 9 p.m. Tickets are $100 and are available at the box office on Melrose or you can reserve by phone at (323) 934-4747.

If you don’t know what the Groundlings Theater is, well, its an improvisational comedy venue in which up-and-coming comedians that involves the audience. They take suggestions on situations, places and so forth, and create on-the-spot skits, based on specific themes.

For this show, there will be a NYE theme and it’s certainly a unique way to spend your New Year’s Eve in Los Angeles, a city that doesn’t have a big public celebration. Rather, NYE in L.A., means going to a promoter party, a bar or if you’re lucky and know of one, a house party.

And at the Groundlings, you may even see a famous face, for its alumni includes Jennifer Coolidge, Will Ferrell, Ana Gasteyer, Kathy Griffin, Cheryl Hines, Chris Kattan, Lisa Kudrow, Jon Lovitz, Michael McDonald, Paul Reubens, Maya Rudolph, Mindy Sterling and Kristen Wiig.
