Live Music Mingles With Libations At 3rd Annual Bay Club Party
You’ve seen them at the Lighthouse, Standing Room and other bars, at local festivals such as Fiesta Hermosa, and now you can catch them at one of the best social party events of the spring in the South Bay.
Highly popular local bands Angry Donkey and Barley are playing the 2018 Beach Cities Beer & Wine Festival, Saturday, May 12, outside at Bay Club in Redondo Beach. The party goes on from from 2:30-6:30 p.m.
Good bands and good beer go together here like the beach and volleyball, and Angry Donkey brings its brand of high-energy fun cover tunes while Barley plays its unique combination of kind of a folk/reggae mix with original songs mixed in with popular covers.
Both bands are from Hermosa Beach and will serve as the music for this fun and wildly popular event that features 20+ craft beers, wines and and one of the best-looking crowds in the South Bay.
Hey, that’s an important factor; whenever there’s an event here people always ask “who’s going” because they want to know about the crowd. With Smackfest Events running this one, you can be sure it will have the true Beach Cities beachy people.
There will be more than 500 of them, in fact. Tickets are $45 in advance ($50 after May 1). This is the third annual event and the first two have sold out in advance.

Barley’s song “Neverland” is all about the Southern California lifestyle tho my favorite is a song called “Up North,” about traveling to Northern California. I also really like “Waking Up Again” with the lyrics “just waking up again, from my whiskey and gin;” it’s almost like a bluegrass song, something you certainly don’t hear around “these parts” to often (if at all).
Check out PubClub.com’s video interview with Barley, below, conducted before the played the huge KAABOO Music Festival in San Diego (the same day as Jimmy Buffett, by the way). Gotta catch this band before it goes big-time; Huey Lewis and the News, after all, once played the Lighthouse Cafe just before “I Want A New Drug” debuted and launched a huge career.
