Los Angeles Beach Cities NYE Parties Include Portifino Bash, Bars & Bands
While one might somewhat accurately argue that every night in the South Bay Beach Cities is New Year’s Eve, the actual New Year’s Eve takes place on Dec. 31, which in 2017 is a Sunday.
Portofino New Year’s Party, Redondo Beach
By far, the biggest bash is promoter Berry Bly’s event at the Portofino hotel. This is the 1,000-plus person party held in a great venue, the Portofino Hotel’s reception building. It’s right on the water in Redondo Beach’s King Harbor – there’s a great patio for getting away from the wild scenes in the two other rooms – three DJs, plus a live performance by Berry’s band Soul Shaker.
There’s a champagne toast at midnight and party favors, plus the very good-looking South Bay crowd, most of whom are single. If you’re single in the South Bay and are looking to start the New Year off with a bang, so to speak, this is your best bet to meet another single seeking the same thing. Doors open at 9 p.m.

Shade Hotel New Year’s Masquerade Party, Manhattan Beach
This is something you don’t necessarily expect to find the South Bay – a masquerade party. It’s at Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach and gets a couple hundred people in an upscale setting that’s like a classic ball. There’s a DJ, Hors D’oeuvres, a midnight champagne toast and masks for those who need them. It goes from 8 p.m.-1 a.m.

Shade Hotel New Year’s Party Havana Nights, Redondo Beach
Get out your white jacket (or dress) and Panama Joe hat for this one – Shade Redondo is going Cuban for its NYE party.
The waterfront Sea Level Lounge with its large side patio is having a Cuban band, a DJ, a photo booth, complimentary fedoras and fans, cigar rollers, a photo booth, a midnight champagne toast, Hors-d’oeuvres & tray passed Canapés, a Mojito bar, buffet food, a dessert & coffee bar and prizes.

Hermosa Beach Live Music Bars For NYE 2018
This music mecca isn’t going silent for NYE. Here’s a rundown of where to hear bands.
• The Lighthouse. Time Bomb band starts at 9 p.m. Cover: TBD
• Saint Rocke. Billy Idol cover band & Wayward Sons. Tickets are $60 for GA, $90 for VIP which includes champagne, passed appetizers and a dessert bar. Tables are $150.
• Standing Room. Live local band starting at 9 p.m. No cover.
Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach & Redondo Beach Bars NYE Parties
• Tower 12. You can go in and have drinks at the two bars or be sure you can get into this popular spot on Hermosa’s Pier Plaza and even have a seat by reserving a spot that includes a four-course dinner (the food here is really good) with a champagne toast and party favors for $75. Hermosa Beach Pier New Year’s Eve Celebration
A free event featuring crooner Lou Giovannetti singing on a stage with a video screen showing two ball drops, from New York City at 9 p.m., and Los Angeles at midnight. Drinks in the bars only.
