The sites, sounds and flavors of Cuba can be experienced during a really cool event at San Diego’s Havana 1920 in the Gaslamp Quarter.
It’s called Havana Nights and it happens a few times a year. The next one is Thursday, April 3. What is Havana Nights, you ask? It’s a spicy event with free – yes, free – food, drink samples and a Latin beat to make it all complete.
Guests who RSVP in advance online here will enjoy complimentary, Cuban small bikes –or bocaditos – a sampling of alcoholic spirits, along with live music.
It takes place from 7-10 and PubClub.com has been there before and loved it. The atmopshere will have you Havana Daydreaming with colorful tables and artwork from the Pearl of the Antilles. Bartenders make a very good mojito and there’s also Cuban beers to really make you feel like you’re Ernest Hemingway at El Floridita, his favorite bar in Havana.
The food is great, too. In the past it’s been Cuban sandwiches, pork and mushy plantains, all delivered in seemingy non-stop fashion. And it’s all complimentary. The light Latin band adds the perfect touch of Havana. Okay, the mojitos and Cuban beer help, as well as the alcohol samples (last time it was, very appropriately, rum).
